Beautiful Kako Village, home to the indigenous Akawaio community, boasts waterfalls, savannahs, creeks and richly bio-diverse forests. With gold mining exploiting and polluting their titled land and that of all of the villages calling the Mazaruni River Basin home, the villagers, lead by their newly elected Toshao, Romario Hastings, try to get the Kako River and its watershed designated “a living nature-based platform,” before incursions by miners completely destroy it.
